Do I Need a Partner for a Dance Holiday?

09/09/2025

One of the most common questions we hear is: “Do I need a partner for a dance holiday?” The good news is: not always! Many dance holidays are designed to welcome solo travellers as well as couples. Whether you’re travelling alone, with a friend, or as a couple, there are options to suit you.

In this guide, we’ll explain how dance holidays work for solo travellers, the role of partner rotation, and when a partner might be required — such as on ballroom dance breaks.

Can I Join a Dance Holiday as a Solo Traveller?

Yes! Lots of our guests come on their own, and it’s one of the things that makes dance holidays so enjoyable. The atmosphere is friendly, social, and inclusive — you’ll quickly meet other dancers who share your passion for music, movement, and travel.

How Does Partner Rotation Work?

On most of our dance holidays, classes are taught using a partner rotation system. This means you’ll change partners regularly, so everyone has the chance to dance and learn together. It’s a fantastic way to:

  • Experience different styles and techniques.

  • Improve your lead/follow skills.

  • Make sure no one is left sitting out.

So, even if you come without a partner, you’ll never miss out.

Are Ballroom Dance Holidays Different?

For our ballroom dance breaks, things work a little differently. These holidays are generally couple-focused, and you’ll get the most out of them if you already have a partner to dance with.

But don’t despair if you don’t have one! Simply contact us and let us know — we may be able to help pair you with another solo traveller who is also looking for a dance partner.

What About Social Dancing?

Evening socials are a highlight of any dance holiday. Whether it’s ballroom, Latin, jive, or swing, the dance floor is open to everyone. Most guests are more than happy to ask (and be asked) to dance, so solo travellers are never left out

Do Solo Travellers Have to Pay a Single Supplement?

Not necessarily. To make our dance holidays accessible for everyone, we often offer a room share option. This pairs you with another solo traveller of the same gender, helping you avoid extra costs — and often creating new friendships along the way.

Why Dance Holidays Are Perfect for Solo Travellers

For many, travelling alone can feel daunting at first. But dance holidays come with a ready-made community from the moment you arrive. The shared love of dance breaks the ice instantly, making it easy to feel included and connected.

The Bottom Line: Do You Need a Partner?

You don’t need a partner for most dance holidays. Partner rotation, social dancing, and room share options make them ideal for solo travellers.

For ballroom-focused breaks, having a partner is recommended, but we may be able to help match you with someone if you don’t already have one.

So whether you’re travelling alone, with a friend, or as a couple, there’s a dance holiday waiting for you.
