Our 3 top Zumba® classes and why

30/10/2020

Just like with all great inventions, it seems Zumba® had come into existence by a pleasant surprise! One of the Zumba founders - Alberto “Beto” Perez, is the pioneer of the Latin-American dance-exercise that ironically began through a moment of absent-mindedness.

It was on a particular day, that Alberto Perez had arrived to the aerobics class he was teaching and quickly realised that he had forgotten to bring with him the music that he would normally use for the aerobics class. Fortunately, Perez would often record music onto tapes but the only tape that Perez had with him contained different types of music not used with his workouts before.

"Perez took a deep breath, turned to his class and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, the class today is different. I prepared this class for a long time and I think that you are ready.”” - CNBC.

Thus Zumba was born and from that day forward, it has completely taken the world by storm and now offers up to 10 different types of classes, since its genesis in 2001.

Here are our top 3 favourite Zumba classes.

1. Zumba Fitness (Zumba).

Zumba Fitness, the original and the best, is specifically designed for each and everybody! The aim of each class is to help bring people together through a fun-filled dance-workout.

Zumba Fitness works by incorporating both low and high-intensity movements together for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance-exercise. Once the sound of the Latin rhythm begins to take over, that’s when you get the full experience of Zumba!

It's no surprise that Zumba is often referred to as an 'exercise in disguise'. By the end of each Zumba Fitness class, you'll have received a complete workout; which combines all of the elements of fitness:

Cardio
- Muscle Conditioning
- Balance
- Flexibility
- Boosted energy

and lastly an overwhelming sense of achievement each time you finish the class

2. Aqua Zumba.

Aqua Zumba is ideal for those who prefer a low-impact workout on their joints, but would still like to undergo the same amount of intensity as Zumba Fitness. This fun class aims to 'make a splash' by providing a high-energy aquatic dance-exercise to each fitness routine.

Aqua Zumba fuses the Zumba philosophy along with water resistance-type training, for a wonderful cardiovascular experience, helping to gently tone each muscle.

This is class is certainly one you do not want to miss!

3. Zumba Gold.

Zumba Gold is well suited for older adults who are interested in participating in adapted Zumba Fitness classes, recreating the original Zumba movements, but at a lower-intensity.

The format of the Zumba Gold class first provides Zumba choreography that is easy to follow, which focuses more on the following key areas:

- Balance.
- Range of Motion.
- Coordination.
- Cardiovascular Fitness.
- Muscle Conditioning.
- Flexibility.

This highly enjoyable class will leave you feeling energised and empowered.

One of the things the above classes of Zumba have in common that we love, is that it is inclusive for everyone! You do not need to be a fitness freak to join in and have a great time. We also offer all 3 classes on our ‘Sunblast’ dance holiday featuring Zumba in Calpe Spain from 6th to 13th of June. It’s a wonderful week in the Spanish sunshine with daily classes of Zumba, beaching, sightseeing and socialising.
