Why should I try Yoga?
11/8/2013
Yoga has been practised for thousands of years. It is considered to be therapeutic and unites the mind and the body helping you to become more aware of yourself and your surroundings. It helps keep you relaxed in a stressful environment and those who practise Yoga regularly feel happier and fitter.
There are different types of Yoga, some intense and vigorous, others relaxing and meditative. Both styles are excellent ways to strengthen your body, relax your spirit and focus your mind and both styles have many, many benefits.
Yoga has various advantages, both physiological and psychological. It helps increase flexibility reducing the risk of injury by targeting specific muscles in your body for one. It focuses on holding posture and alignment, keeping muscles in balance while rhythmic and focused breathing (a primary element in Yoga) helps increase awareness and concentration levels. These together unite and integrate both the mind and body as it focuses all your energy on precise poses and movements. When these are put together, it gives people an overall feeling of increased well-being - which is why so many people find it addictive.
